GMail Less Secure Apps
#1
Gintaras,

Quickmacros does still work with GMail, but a user must enable less secure apps to do so via https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps

Here is the current page for settings for GMail: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7...hl=en&rd=1

So I'm betting the issue is with "Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587"

So as a work around right now to keep my account more secure, I logged into GMail, enable less secure apps, Run QM code, then disable less secure apps.

Otherwise QM output looks like:

Code:
Copy      Help
Error (RT) in <open ":1474: /295">MAIL:  [Error: Connection failure] (0x72)
    Server response: 534-5.7.14 <https://accounts.google.com/signin/continue?sarp=1&scc=1&plt=
534-5.7.14 ******> Please log in via your web browser and
534-5.7.14 then try again.

Note: I removed the plt part of the string and replaced with *****

Thanks,

P.S. I hope all has been well for you!

Gmail blocks apps that don't use OAuth authentication.
Explained here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1201406
https://blogs.msmvps.com/jcoehoorn/blog/...in-google/

QM email functions cannot use it.
It is probably possible, but need to create new email functions. I'll try it later.

Gintaras,

Just wanted to bump this thread because I got an email from google giving a timeline for Less Secure Apps.
Quote:Access to LSAs will be turned off in two stages:
  1. June 15, 2020 - Users who try to connect to an LSA for the first time will no longer be able to do so. This includes third-party apps that allow password-only access to Google calendars, contacts, and email via protocols such as CalDAV, CardDAV and IMAP. Users who have connected to LSAs prior to this date will be able to continue using them until usage of all LSAs is turned off.
  2. February 15, 2021 - Access to LSAs will be turned off for all G Suite accounts.

In your Gmail security settings enable 2-step verification. Then below it will be "App passwords". Create one for Mail + Windows computer. Use the generated password in script. Tested, works.

May need to disable "enable less secure apps" before enabling 2-step verification. Maybe it will be disabled automatically. It seems now this setting is unavailable, or I can't find.

Here is the URL: https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps?pli=1

Unless you were looking for something else.

I will try this. It is also relevant because we have a bunch of printers that scan to email authenticating through gmail with just a password and had to enable less secure apps on that account used to send mail.  I hope your aforementioned process works there as well!

I hope you are well!
