is there a unique element that only all file dialogs have,
regardless of language ?

currently i use the filename edit control as trigger

but thats for german only

Try to use filter function that would recognize file dialogs by evaluating several properties. For example all have a listview control, all have an Edit control id 1148 (Vista), and so on. I don't know a single unique property.
