Zipping EPUB

I'm working with .EPUB files which are essentially .zip files with a different extension.

may i ask what currently is not working?

I don't actually even have an e-reader to test on...I just want to try to work within the standards defined by the idpf when creating these files.

From what I've read in various locations, these files must be zipped in a specific way where the mimetype is not compressed and is the first file.

I felt the link I posted did a very good job of explaining what to do, but it left me wondering how it could be done in QM.
