Write to log file

I have several toolbars created and I'd like to add a little code in each button that would add 1 to a running total each time its macro is executed.
Thus tracking statistics on which buttons are popular and which aren't.

I'd like to write it to an excel spreadsheet so I thought maybe a tab delimited text file.

Any ideas? If writing directly to excel is possible that is great. Otherwise, I'm guessing a text file.

Better write to registry. Writing/updating a value to a file is not so fast.
