Combining child dialog functions

I am working with ChildDialog.qml to learn how to make VSCROLL and HSCROLL. Now, that I at least have a basic understanding of creating scrollbars, I would like to find out how to put both scrollbar controls into one function. However every time I try to combine VSCROLL and HSCROLL into one function I come up with dozens of errors. Can I get an example of how to combine VSCROLL and HSCROLL into one function or at least one macro?
