Window activate trigger works manually, doesnt work via other macro

i am running some testing on notepad window with autotext. 

to make it easier i made a macro that when notepad is selected it sends a Ctrl A backspace to clear any text.  This works when i manually activate the notepad window (all text is cleared) BUT if i have another macro activate the window the 'clear notepad' macro doesnt run...

why not, what setting would cure this?

In Properties dialog of one or both macros, select "if a macro is running, run simultaneously" or convert to function.
